Accessibility Statement

The Frontier Signal is committed to making its content accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including readers who use assistive technologies or have temporary or permanent disabilities. This statement describes the current state of accessibility on this site and how to report issues.

Standards

This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines. The site is built on WordPress with a custom design system that prioritizes legibility, clear hierarchy, and semantic HTML.

Measures in place

  • Semantic HTML. Headings follow a logical hierarchy (single H1 per page, H2 and H3 below). Articles use native HTML elements rather than purely visual containers.
  • High contrast text. Body text is rendered in dark neutral colors on white backgrounds to exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG.
  • Readable typography. Text is set in Inter with generous line-height for comfortable reading on both desktop and mobile.
  • Image alt text. All editorial images include descriptive alternative text for screen readers.
  • Keyboard navigable. All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are reachable and operable via keyboard.
  • Responsive design. Layout adapts to screen sizes from 320px upward; text remains legible at 200% zoom.

Known limitations

This site is a personal publication and is tested by a small team. Some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA:

  • Some older images may have shorter alt text than ideal.
  • Embedded third-party content (e.g., YouTube videos) inherits the accessibility of the third party’s player.
  • Color contrast of links in footer and metadata may fall below 4.5:1 in some themes; this is being revised.

Reporting issues

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let me know via the contact page. I will review and respond as promptly as possible, and aim to remediate reported issues within 30 days of notification.
